Find Bear Foot Cabin

This fella' does not live in Bearfoot cabin, but at the zoo at Grandfather Mountain nearby.    The easiest place to fly to is Greensboro, North Carolina, because it is a straight drive directly along 421 through Winston-Salem to Boone. Another good airport is Charlotte, North Carolina, through Gastonia and Hickory to Boone.  An internal airport is Tri-City, near Kingsport, Tennessee.  Go down I-181 then to Elizabethton, and take the road to Roan Mountain and Blowing Rock in North Carolina, then on to Valle Crucis.

Dining room lamp with dimmer switch adds a cosy detail.   Below are large scale and smaller scale maps, so you can see roughly where Bear Foot Cabin is. We suggest you print them and BRING THEM WITH YOU!  DO NOT try to find the cabin using a regular road map - especially if you are arriving after dark!

We don’t give detailed instructions on this site - for obvious reasons - and you receive written details with your booking confirmation.

In winter we recommend four wheel drive to negotiate the twisting gravel roads, but in other seasons you will be fine with a regular car.

It is also great fun exploring the many roads leading off Clark’s Creek, never being  quite sure where you will finish up.
